Food tells me the truth.

The food has an aroma, and the aroma tells me: “I am delicious. If you put me in your mouth, you will be very happy.” And when I put it in my mouth, I find the aroma has told me true, and I am very happy.

That is why I bring food to work. The food is a note of honesty amidst the project costs that always exceed what was promised, the “No, I don’t have any POs to request,” the “next month will be better” kind of statements.

Food also lies subtly, withholds some truths. Mangoes and cupcakes both smell yummy, but one of them does not also bother to say, “I am fattening. You should probably stay away, lard butt.”

Also, don’t talk about food aromas with Caroline right now. Very sensitive subject!

Food does not always tell me the truth. In aroma, yes. But The ice cream god has blessed me, somewo icecream does not seem to add caloric content to my daily intake. You know it has always been bizarre. Only lately have I decided that it is a unique phenomenon. I finished off two half gallons- Breyers mint chip of course, and heath bar crunch, (each missing a single serving) between Sunday night and thursday night…SO delicious. It was only when, once agian, CUrtis looked for his Heath bar toffee crunch that I became mortified- “you finished it ALL? ALL of it? MINE too???” says CUrtis. “You should not have gotten Heath bar crunch,” I defend myself, casting about for any port in a storm. “you know I love Heath Bars!” After all, what was he thinking. Sigh I guess I never met an icecream flavor that I didn’t like. But I should be enormous. Enormous. This phenomenon does not extend to other food substances. I could get fat, I think, eating fudge, or mashed potatos, or brownies, or macadam,ia nuts. But not ice cream. Thank the lord!
