I thought, for convenience’s sake, I’d put all of the songs I’m recording in one place. And all of the disclaimers. The direct downloads have fake odt extensions; in Windows Explorer, make sure that you’ve set the view options to show extensions of known file types, then right click on the files, rename, and change the “.odt” at the end to “.wav”…ta da, evil accomplished. The Badongo links will likely expire before I’m even done writing this page; if they have, and you want me to re-upload on Badongo, just put it in comments. Oh: and if you are tech challenged and want something as an mp3, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
Songs:
Love Song (Originally by Elton John, Written by Lesley Duncan) Love Song (Badongo)
Hammer And Nail (Originally by the Indigo Girls) Hammer and Nail (Badongo)
Is There Anybody Out There? (Originally by Pink Floyd; Instrumental) Is There Anybody Out There? (Badongo)
Here is Gone (Originally by the Goo Goo Dolls.) Here is Gone (Badongo)
Um…lost a couple. Will put them back up eventually…
Disclaimers:
- I didn’t write these.*
- I’m not making money off of these.
- I am not a musician. If your ears bleed, it’s your own fault for listening. And don’t tell me about my mistakes. Trust me: I know what they are.**
- I’m not a producer. If you hear planes going by overhead or sirens or a dog running out of the room…don’t complain about it, and, no, it’s not an intended effect.
- I’m not good at choosing songs to record. I’m mostly choosing based on requests (er, feel free) and trying to put together kids’ music to send to Audrey and Grace, whom I miss. A lot. And, if you hate the songs I pick…well, by the time I’ve given up trying to get a better recording, I pretty much hate them too, so at least you have company.
- If you compliment me and then my ego swells and then you can’t get me to shut up and put my guitar away…your fault. Also, if you compliment me and I seem to be prickly or ignore it…well, that’s the oh-so-clever-and-not-at-all-obvious way I have of dealing with embarrassment from praise. (Okay, okay: it makes me really happy to hear that people like it. So happy that I’m uncomfortable with expressing it. And discomfort usually comes out as snappishness or sarcasm. And you certainly never heard me admit that.)
- If I say these songs never happened, they never happened. They are not on your computer. You have no memory of them. You will never ever mention them and if you pull them out to torture me at a reunion and find yourself in the ICU, you have been warned.
*In the highly unlikely event that I not only finish writing a song, but decide that recording it and sharing it would not break the world, you will know. Oh, you poor things. You’ll. Know. And there will be a new set of disclaimers.
**Constructive crit about how to record things: a completely different story. If you know how, please tell me!
